Where is the end?

At this point, I kind of feel like my climax and ending are actively avoiding being written. I know almost all of what I want to happen. There is a scene list and everything where I break down all of what still needs to make it into a book. I just can’t seem to get there for some reason.

Until then, here is a snippet–a very short one–to tide you over.

“Breathe through your mouth and it won’t be so bad,” Kira told Jin.

Jin tried.

He really did.

“I can taste it now.” Jin gagged. “How is that somehow worse?”

Kira snickered and tousled Jin’s hair. “You’ll get used to it.”

“I don’t want to,” Jin nearly wailed.

“Here.” Finn held out a container of ointment. Opening it, he swiped his finger in it before smearing the stuff beneath Jin’s nostrils. “This should help.”

Jin took an experimental sniff, his expression lighting up. “It does.”

“Where did that come from?” Kira asked.

The container disappeared back into Finn’s hoodie. “Since you have many dealings with humans, I thought it appropriate to keep some on hand as our senses and their’s are often at odds.”

What a polite way of saying that they sometimes stunk.

Seeing [redacted], Finn paused with his hand still tucked half in his bright orange top. “Would you—“

[Redacted] shook his head. “No need. I’m fine.”

Kira glared as Finn dropped his hand. “Why not ask me?”

“I forgot. Just like you forgot to warn me to bring civilian clothes.”

    Hi,

Give yourself permission to walk away from working on it for a few days, and do something relaxing. Try taking a drive and see the changing leaves. Inspiration will hit with a calm mind. Hoping to having another Christmas gift this year. Please release it if you have the option the day before or on Christmas Day, rather the day after. Perfect Christmas gift!

Snippets always brighten my day. I just finished reading Aileen. Now I’m going to start rereading Kira. Thank you.

I’m glad your child is doing better! What a scary thing. I have 2 kids (now 11 & 13) of my own and understand the emotional torment of your child in crisis. While I’m very much looking forward to the Firebird release (and Ikeep checking the blog), I’m also happy for it to happen when you’re ready. Thanks for writing such great characters and such an engrossing narrative!

Thank you! What a lovely and unexpected gift 🥰. Last time I was this excited for a book was when I was waiting for the last Harry Potter book. I am alight with anticipation! And already dreading that feeling of loss when the book is devoured. Does everyone experience that devastating moment when there is no more pages to turn in a great book? Before i process it, and the loss goes, and I ‘adsorb’ it into my internal treasure trove.

I read this snippet a few days ago but didn’t leave a comment. Thanks so much for sharing.

I’m sure your mind is stressed with everything you’ve been through this past week. Take the rest you need. I’m not even sure how you make such amazing stories. I’ve never read a book over and over again the way I do yours. I never got the whole “world building” until I read your books. It’s amazing. Thank you.
