September
This month has been a weird one. Busy and hectic with countless moments of celebration due to the fact that all of us share a birthday month. As fun as it was, I’m glad to be done and grateful I have a year to rest before the next birthday extravaganza.
We went apple picking last weekend. I’m actually pretty excited. There are at least 5 recipes I’m hoping to try out. Beyond my yearly apple crisp, there are apple muffins, two recipes from the Great British Baking Show cookbook. And maybe apple butter. Haven’t decided on that last one due to the sheer number of apples it requires and the worry I won’t be able to use a significant amount before it goes bad.
The floating island book is progressing. Slowly but surely. Not sure if I like it or hate it but at this point I’m pretty committed.
Other than that, it’s just business as usual.

If you are interested in cupcakes (or cake), I have an apple spice cake recipe (technically from my Dowser Series) that’s insanely good. And usually I don’t like anything that isn’t chocolate. 😜

That sounds delicious!

I just made sweet and sour cabbage with apples, carmelized onions and apples, if you’d like the recipe.

I would love that

I have been making Apple Betty (flour/sugar) from the old Better Homes and Garden cook book and then use the cores and skin to make apple jelly.
