Draft Two
On Wednesday, I announced draft two was done via Facebook. I may have jumped the gun a little. A few hours sitting with what I’d written, I decided it wasn’t in good enough shape to be considered a true ending. Too many loose ends had been left unaddressed. Even after two days fixing it, I think there’s one thing left to be addressed. But it can wait until the next round. I’m not fiddling with this any more.
So now, with no further ado, I can say that draft two is officially in the bag. This book has a solid beginning, middle and end.
Someone asked how many drafts I do. That question is a bit complicated. The true answer is as many as is necessary to get the best book possible. After twenty something books though, I’ve got the process down to an artform. Generally speaking, it’s three drafts before I send to betas and my editor. Then I make their changes and send it to a proof reader. After that’s done, I re-read everything once more to make sure nothing got messed up. I’m looking at you, Devon’s eye color.
After draft two, things start moving a lot faster. The time spent on drafts gets shorter and shorter because by this point the only thing I’m worry about is how pretty my words are. Most of the hard decisions have been made. Every once in a while I have to rename people or things because there’s a Sara and a Sariah, but mostly it’s cosmetic.
For now, I’m going to take the rest of the weekend and Monday to play with my children and read some books. I think I’ve earned some time relaxing.

Yay. Can’t wait to give me. Does this mean there was a mistake on Devon’s eye color because I never noticed? Always yellow or daisy in my memory.

In the first book where he is mentioned the first time it says that his eye color is light green but in all of the other mentions it is yellow to match Jin

Haha, I remember noticing the eye color thing.
So happy to learn that you finished the second draft! I’ve re-read all the books in the series twice this year because I’m so excited for this release.

I’m waiting to reread all the books in the series when the publish date is announced. That way I can accurately revel in my anguish and excitement.

Great job!!! That’s amazing how much detail work you put into your writing. No wonder it’s so gripping. Enjoy your break.
I didn’t notice a change in Devon’s eye color, but I did notice Jin’s started out as green. Found the spot: Book Two, Chapter 5 where it mentioned both Devon and Jin. I must’ve just focused on Jin, lol. Doesn’t matter, it’s a wonderful book! I just make a note when I see a little discrepancy (so I’m not stuck on it) and move on. -
Oh goodness congratulations! I just started working on my own personal project and am having so much fun. I totally get you on the time spent making the writing pretty. It makes a big difference!
As for Devon’s eye color, my imagination is so adaptable! If there were any discrepancies I always go with what the newest work provides. Reading is more fun when you just roll with things. Your writing really just pulls the reader in too so that makes things easier.
Hoping you have a wonderful Halloween! Are you guys dressing up the twins? <3
