Back from Vacation
It’s the first day back after a week in Florida with my family and my sister-in-law’s family. It rained a lot which meant there weren’t as many beach/pool days as I’d hoped, but we had a lot of family time. Lots of laughter and food and rainy day activities. Overall, it was a great time and I’m so glad we were in a group. It meant I actually got a bit of a rest from the twins at times.
Getting into the swing of things today has been an uphill battle. I forgot where I was in the current narrative so I had to go back and remind myself. Typing seems to elude me. So many mis-capitalized/misspelled words. I know it’s just a first draft but I still need to have some idea of what I was trying to say.
I spent the morning taking care of all the miscellaneous admin stuff that popped up. Good news — there will be an audio book for Botanical Mischief. As well as a print book. Both are in production. Don’t ask me for release dates. I don’t have them. The print will be as soon as the cover is done. The audio as soon as the narrator and publisher finish on their end.
It seems that Gus and her story were well received among readers. That makes me happy because now I can go forward with plans for book 2. I kind of think I need to build up Gus and her siblings a little more before circling back to Kira and her story. I’m still kind of playing with story lines but right now she’s taking up a lot of real estate in my head.
Thanks to everyone who gave Gus a chance. She kind of snuck into my heart and took it over before I realized so it’s good to see her have the same effect on others.

Gus needs to stay, yes, and beefing her up amongst her cast of supporting characters, I would think, should be a fun write for you. Your mind will have a wonderful freedom to make the siblings as wild and woolly as you are inclined. Have fun crafting because when you’re done, I will get to read your creation.

Yes! Definitely would love more of Gus and Caius. And I love the idea of expanding the world of the 29/43 from other than Kiras POV. Glad you had a great vacay!

I am loving Gus and more info about the group previously known as the 43. I am looking forward to learning more about her Ki and other abilities, and seeing her square off with Caius. Glad you had a restful break!

Thank you so much for this! I’d LOVE to learn more about Gus’s backstory—especially how she survived the trials she and the other kids went through with their kidnappers. If she was considered the weakest and was hiding her abilities, how did she make it through? Was it because she was the Master’s ‘pet,’ so she didn’t have to endure what Kira and the others did?
And why was she chosen as the Master’s pet in the first place? I remember her eye color being mentioned before, but I’m so curious what else played into that.
Ahh, sorry for all the questions—I just can’t wait for the next one already!

I almost cried at Gus’ hurt when Caius looked at her mean. I wonder why she has always been afraid of Ryan, is it his vibe? She obviously felt something despite herself for Caius as she has saved him, (or attempted), at her own cost two times.
In the future I would love to see Kira in full form. It’s like she’s been sick or had some bracelet on that hampers her. I get she still has a lot to learn about controlling it. Okay, it started scrolling so I am evidently writing a novel for this comment. Sorry. Welcome back, thank you. Amazing job on your book. Bye.

I loved Gus! And it’s so nice to see the world from an introvert’s perspective! 😊 I’m so glad she’s getting a follow up. But I’m more intrigued by Ryan than Caius! It would be great to understand the relationship the 43/31/29 have amongst them and why they keep misjudging their intentions and/or abilities. So excited! Thank you so much!

I love Gus, and feel like you walked a perfect line with her character – she was outwardly standoffish, but the hurt and loneliness just radiated from her. It made me cry several times in the book. I wish others could see and appreciate her strength and heart – that’s my hope for her story. She deserves so much better than the small, lonely life she has been living. And she deserves an ally that she can trust, because Ryan and the rest of the 43 just use her as needed and then utterly disregard her. I was furious at the end of Gus’s first book, when we learn they’re just taking over her home. I hope she makes the entire station toxic to Tuann. Jerks.

Loved Gus’ intro, and I can’t wait to see more of her and the rest. Thanks for all the hard work you put into building your worlds. It feels like coming home every time I re-read your books. And I’m always anxious for the next chapter!

LOVE the Firebird series! You create such complex & multi-dimensional characters. Like Gus & Ryan. She’s his assasin? Wow, didn’t that coming. Ryan reminds me of Torvald, with Gus & Pallas & Alexander?? his faces. More Gus & Jin scenes, pls. I feel like Kira & 43/31 need to combine powers to defeat the Osiri. The lujuan been setting that up?

So, about the 43.is the total number of 43 survivors including Jin and Kira? Or there is 43 survivors members and plus 2 (Jin and Kira) bring to total 45 survivors? -

So, is 43 number of total survivors that escape including Kira and Jin? Or 43 member + Kira and Jin?
