A week
It’s not been the best of weeks. Loki, my dearest companion, my adorable trickster cat that I’ve had for about twelve years and who has seen me through so many life events, is missing. After years of trying, she managed to escape our house this past Friday. Usually, we catch her before she makes it more than a few steps out our front door because she has a habit of proclaiming her victory quite loudly. Unfortunately, she neglected to do that this time and I didn’t notice her absence until the next morning when she wasn’t present for our morning ritual of meows and pets.
I’ve done all the things I can do and that are recommended on pet FBI and various other lost pet places. I’m also pretty sure someone tried to scam me earlier today by sending a photo of a cat that looks very similar to Loki. I could be wrong. I hope I am. We’ll see in the coming days.
Her absence plus a couple of other things in my personal life means I haven’t really been able to concentrate on writing. That’s a different type of frustrating since last week was one of the best writing weeks I’d had in probably about three years. After multiple false starts and rabbit holes, the book was finally starting to take shape. I was even liking what I was writing. Now I’m staring at my words wondering where I was going after the current scene.
I still like it. Just feeling a little lost right now. At least that’s what I hope this feeling is. Maybe a nice cup of silver needle tea brewed in my new tea pot will help me find perspective. Or give me something to hold while I stare morosely out the window wondering how Ms. Kitty managed to slip by me. I hope your week so far is better than mine.

Ahh wandering cats. We have had our fair share. Usually rhe house cats come back. Kinda a lady and the tramp type thing. “Oh no there not delicious kibble available what am I suppose to eat” I just hope it soon for your sake. Don’t ever give money until the cat is in hand. We had a cat dissappear for 2 weeks We were sure she had died(we have lots of wild animals near) and all the sudden one morning there she was, hungry and angry. She didn’t leave the house for days after that.

I’ve lost both my cats at one time or another. Freya The Goddess was about 3 months old and got out. We looked and looked, Facebook and posters.
Some girl had seen her over about a block away and just picked her up. Her friend told her she had a home and we were looking for her. Now she is chipped and has a collar with her name and my phone number and doesnt particularly want to go out.My kitten, Sir Aengus McFluffybutt, likes to run out. Twice he has snuck out. More Facebook and pictures around the neighorhood. He also is chipped and has a collar with name and phone number. Now I pick him up when I let the dog out. If he is in my hands he isnt sneaking out. We are fortunate (I guess?) In that we have deep snow 6 months of the year and neither cat likes that cold wet stuff.
Anyway, its freaking scary when theyre lost. I put their litter boxes outside if they are missing but not food (raccoons and skunks like cat food).

Hope you find your Loki or she finds you again ❤️ to hopefully lift your spirit I live in Iceland and have a black cat that was supposed to be male and was named Loki, but underwent a sex change when the vet called.. you know it’s a female 🤭 the only appropriate name was of course Diva !! Best of luck with Loki and the words ❤️

I am so very sorry that your kitty is in an adventure !! It’s so stressful and the feeling of helplessness is awful. My little shadow Sookie went on an adventure for an entire week a few years ago and I still remember how sick with worry I was. I hope your Loki comes back as well! I’m sure you’ve already done this but just in case – leave a trail of your dirty clothes to your door. Also leave a few bowls of water out since it’s so hot out. Sending out love to Loki!

Pets are that double edged sword bringing us joy and sorrow. I hope you find her soon (or more likely, she sashays back to your house feeling proud of her escape but now wanting to be pampered).

Hoping your cat comes home soon meowing their victorious finding of home and yowling about adventure they had.

Keeping everything crossed for Loki’s safe return. I have 3 outdoor cats who use my house like a hotel in the summer, just appearing for meals, then only leave to perform body functions during the winter!
