Bad News
I’d hoped to delay this blog post a little longer in hope that things would turn around, but alas, I doubt they will and it’s time to call it.
Firebird 6’s publication is officially delayed until the first week of January. My editor unfortunately suffered an injury that has slowed her down. Rather than ask her to rush her recovery or the edits, I’m making the executive decision to push off the go live date.
I know that’s not what everyone wanted, but I think this is the best choice in the end. It will give me more time to work on these characters and an ending that most of the betas felt was a little rushed. For perspective–I’m planning to add a scene and a half on the back end. At least. And the editor might want a few more things fleshed out as well. This book means a lot to me so I want to take my time to give you the best version I’m capable of.
I haven’t decided if I’m going to release Gus’s short story early or not. Originally, the first chapter was going to go live the week after Firebird did as a major character from Kira’s world crosses over to Gus’s and I didn’t want to give away the surprise. Now, I wonder if you deserve an early treat.

Perfect takes time! If you want to add even more scenes, who am I to complain? I’ll happily wait for January.
As per Gus’ story I think it should be realised when it makes more sense. No need for an early treat, you should follow your plan in my opinion.

No need to apologize. I’d rather wait longer for a better book. The editing process should not be rushed – and you never know, the editor may recommend further changes.
Personally I think you shouldn’t set a release date until after your editor has a chance to take a look. I know from what other authors have discussed that sometimes editors suggest things that may take weeks for rewrites, even when the author is experienced and has released best sellers, because they see things that you were too close to the material to spot yourself

What a great gift for the new year! I’ll be delighted to read it whenever it comes out. 🤗

Take all the time that you and your team need! And personally, I’d rather be surprised than get an early treat.

All good, I’m sure it will be a bloody good read, take your time. Delayed gratification is a good skill to develop.😂

Looking forward to the late Christmas gift but no rush. I’ll have years to reread the book so if you want to take some more time to give us even more don’t even worry about making wait.

I’m thrilled to read it in January – I’m glad you’re taking your time… and adding those extra scenes! As for Gus’s story, I’d prefer to read it in it’s proper chronological order. No need to rush anything; we’ll be looking for a treat in the new year too!
My 2 cents’ (and I’m probably flattering myself re: its value) is for you to relax as much as possible and set aside ‘fully present’ time with your loved ones that you’ll treasure forever.
I’ve read and re-read all of your books. While I love them all, Firebird is my absolute favorite. Knowing Book 6 is coming so soon is such a gift… I’m sending all that positive energy back to you as waves of love and adoration (imagine a puppy-dog emoji with expanding heart eyes – lol)!

I’m glad you are taking some extra time and not rushing through. Especially nice of you to be gentle with your editor. I would rather have a great book than a quickly released book. Thank you!
I can’t decide if it would be fun to read Guses short story before the new firebird book. I suppose I will be happy with however that shakes out ♥️

And now we have something to look forward to in the new year! 🙂 Thank you for taking the time you need.
I’m sorry to hear about your editor, I hope she recovers quickly. I know how injuries throw the injured and everyone around them for a loop, and I’m glad you have the kindness not to over-burden her during her recovery.
Gus’s story – I’ll look forward to it whenever it comes. The best things are worth the wait, and the psychologists even say anticipation itself gives us pleasure. So I’m happily anticipating its future release, whenever that may be. 🙂

I don’t think the delay is a big deal, and from the comments other agree with me hehe! I think the last book left off in a really great place, no major cliff hangers! We can wait until January for both of the releases. I hope your editor has a full recovery 🙂

Totally understandable, thanks for the update 🙂
I’m driving 12 hours each direction before and after Christmas, and I was hoping to listen to this book while driving. Now, I’ll have to listen to something lame. But no worries, I’m not sobbing…yet.
LOLMerry Christmas you and your family! 🙂

Thank you for the update. Sorry to hear about your editor’s injury, hope she feels better soon.
I would be fine reading about Gus early 😉
I’m also fine with whatever time you decide to release the short story. I am just starting Wayfarer’s Keep, so this will be perfect timing as I’ll re-read Firebird Chronicles from the beginning again, just in time for January’s release. -
We can wait! Looking forward to the release in January.

Looking forward to the book whenever it gets here! Completely understandable about taking some extra time. Thanks for letting us know!
-
I think it’s a better decision to wait and get the story done the way you like it. And additional extra in the book will be amazing I’m looking forward to my reading in January.
-
I’m just happy we’ll get the book soon! An early Gus release would be a great teaser though.
Happy holidays and best wishes for your editor.

Take as much time as you need.
Only one question…..any idea where to find a pre-order link for Firebird 6… ?
-
You can’t rush perfection! I can’t wait to read it in the new year and best wishes to your editor.

Still good. Ya, still good. Looking forward to it!
:sending good recovery wishes to your editor: -
I can’t stand the English language. I run from it faster than I run from responsibilities on a Monday morning. I even found myself a job where no one dares to expect me to speak English. Whenever I hear it, I immediately picture a certain dark-haired man — as handsome and brilliant as he was deceitful and cruel. Yes, wonderful, thank you for the trauma. Anyway. Your books and your characters are so ridiculously amazing that they actually managed to break through my long-standing disgust for English. After ten years it still hurts, but hey — at least it’s worth it!
-
Take the time you need, I will happily re-read all of the earlier books while I wait.
Best wishes to you for a happy holiday season!

Question out of right field…The Dragon Ridden chronicles…you left that end so open a small planet could pass through it!😂
So do you have plans on going back to Tate’s world at some point?
Just a random question I didn’t know was ever asked or answered!!!
